Nineteen of the Russian's twenty-one championships have been won on hard surfaces

A resurgent Daniil Medvedev secured his first title for 882 days with victory over Corentin Moutet in the competition final.

Medvedev, a former top-ranked player, has had a challenging year, achieving just one win at the Grand Slams and undergoing a setback at the American major.

His inconsistency on the ATP Tour - and issues with his serving in particular - led to him falling of the top ten and finally separating with long-time trainer Gilles Cervara.

Now collaborating with his coach and his other coach, the tennis star has gradually improved in the last few weeks - climaxing in a hard-fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 win over opponent Moutet.

It is his maiden title since the Rome competition and maiden on a hard surface since March of 2023.

Victory also indicates Medvedev has achieved twenty-one championships at 21 distinct events.

"It's the first time I have attended a tournament with my both daughters simultaneously, so to secure a championship is particularly special," said world number 14 Medvedev.

"This championship is in tribute of my younger daughter my daughter, because the initial championship I got when my child her name was born was for her."

The tennis star, the 2021 US Open champion, had failed in his last six championship matches, comprising in the German tournament in the past months.

His retrieving approach and recurring emotional displays on the tennis court had led commentators to doubt if his skill to play at the highest level was over.

But the player has implemented adjustments in the past month, attempting to approach the net and perform positively, backed up by an improved service.

The champion came back from a break down in the first set against the difficult opponent, taking four of the last five exchanges to gain the advantage.

Both players swapped break points in the middle set before Moutet, striving for his maiden tour title, seized the initiative to push for a final set.

The opponent saved 4 early-game opportunities in a tight final set before the champion broke to fifteen to secure the win.

Fittingly, he clinched the title with a shot at the net, with Moutet failing to manage a return after a lengthy match.
